Wow. The Hunger Games, based on the first novel of the trilogy by Suzanne Collins, has an exclusive motion poster featuring a flaming logo based on the story’s iconic mockingjay pin. Very nice.
“The Hunger Games” stars Jennifer Lawrence — an Oscar-nominee for last year’s “Winter’s Bone” — as Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old living in the post-apocalyptic country of Panem. Every year, a boy and girl are chosen from each of the country’s 12 districts to fight each other to the death until only one remains. Katniss is from one of the poorest districts, but she is skilled in archery and hunting, which makes her a fierce competitor. Katniss wears a mockingjay pin — the flaming symbol on the poster — which is a sign of rebellion against Panem’s oppressive government.
Also starring Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson and Lenny Kravitz, “The Hunger Games” will open on March 23, 2012. To find out more about the movie, check out the Lionsgate booth in the main hall at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con.
